Nurturing Resilience
The Power of Storytelling to Build Healthier Bodies and Communities
First Date :
Friday, March 05, 2010
Description:
March 5-7, 2010: Educators, parents, healing professionals, community leaders, artists, and other friends are invited to attend “Nurturing Resilience: The Power of Storytelling to Build Healthier Bodies and Communities,” a conference hosted by Great Lakes Teacher Training (GLTT), which offers Waldorf teacher training and adult enrichment opportunities in SE Wisconsin. The conference will be held at Mount Mary College, Milwaukee, WI, March 5-7, 2010.

Health—we strive to maintain and improve it for ourselves and for those we serve in our professions. Stories can support us on every level, awakening our creative courage and vision and giving us invaluable insight into ourselves and others. Nancy Mellon, therapist, educator and author of Body Eloquence: The Power of Myth and Story to Awaken the Body’s Energies, will present the weekend’s keynote sessions and introduce us to her experiential approach to storytelling.

How can we be physically, emotionally and spiritually resilient? How can we face and overcome life’s challenges through storytelling? How can we use our imagination to access wellsprings of wisdom that can strengthen and guide us?

Nancy Mellon and 15 other workshop presenters will share their insights on this theme and engage participants in learning ways to utilize the power of storytelling in education, parenting, therapy, organizational management, community building and self-development. A Festival of Healing Stories Saturday evening will celebrate this art and be open to the public.

For more information on Nancy Mellon and her books, visit www.healingstory.com.
